ABOUT WHSG 2026

The WHSG Meeting is the premier gathering in the Western Hemisphere for shorebird biologists, including students, early-career professionals, and managers who promote bird conservation and applied research from the Arctic to Tierra del Fuego. We expect more than 175 attendees from academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, government, and industry to convene in La Paz, Mexico, to network and experience the natural wonders of Baja California Sur. The program includes plenary speakers, symposia, workshops, and a wide range of scientific sessions focused on putting conservation into action on the ground. Presentations may be given in English or Spanish, and this meeting uniquely brings together participants from across Latin America. These events provide valuable opportunities for student engagement, mentorship, and professional development.
